[Plaintive whine] Is it EVER going to rain on our place again? [/Plaintive whine]

We have had 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of rain in the last two months, and we're getting mighty sick of its absence.

The above picture is of a rainstorm that is hovering about a mile or two away, and has been for the last hour. We hear thunder on three sides of us, but are we getting damp? Nope. Zip, zilch, nada agua.

We've had similar teasers several times over the last few weeks. I'm starting to think we had a rain shield installed at our house without our knowledge.

Grrrrrr.

Home Sick

I have to say, that if one must be laid up with the crud, then this is the place to be. The backyard is a hotbed of wildlife activity. There are hordes of Scrub Jays fighting over the peanut feeder. Here's one of the cheeky buggers.
House Finches empty the giant Droll Yankee tube of black oil sunflower seeds every couple of days.

The occasional fox kindly lets us know that this is his territory, and we are only permitted here by his grace.

And of course nothing makes one feel better than the company of a fine cat.

Gorgeous!

At last, a little rain after a hot month! The temperature dropped 30 degrees between 1604 and the other side of the rainstorm.

Blue Ridge Parkway, May 2004

Here's a synopsis of the most recent bike trip we took, to the BRP in the Spring of 2004:

We camped in some beautiful spots; this is Linville Falls:

Of course, sleeping in the dirt means housecleaning (normally a girlchore, but since we're lifting our house over our head, I thought I'd do it.

We had to stop for occasional naps (in the nicest places).

Look! What I have MADE!

Why I'm the luckiest man alive...

Tim & Amy's travels

If all goes well, this will be a blog of our upcoming travels (travails?). For now, it's just our new home on the 'net.
